Peoria Man Wanted For Sex Crimes Against Children Extradited From Mexico

Peoria Police Department report they have extradited a man wanted for sex crimes against children back to the United State from Mexico after he was arrested in Mexico.

Gilberto Buitimea Bacasegua, 52, was charged with two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of sexual abuse and one count of kidnapping in March 2016. A warrant was issued for his arrest in order to appear in court for those crimes. He failed to appear and fled the country.

Seven years later, the Marshals Service in the District of Arizona’s Mexico Investigative Liaison team were able to locate and take Bacasegua into custody without incident in Sinaloa, Mexico. He has since been extradited back to Arizona.

“The success in locating and returning Bacasegua back to Arizona to face multiple egregious felony charges directly reflects the outstanding investigatory and collaborative efforts made by the Peoria Police Department, Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and the United States Marshal Service,” Acting U.S. Marshal Van Bayless said in the release.
