Peoria 4th Grader To Be Charged After Bringing Gun To School In Backpack

A Peoria elementary school student in the fourth grader will be charged after authorities found an unloaded gun in the student’s backpack on Tuesday.

Authorities announced that Peoria Police Department officers responded to Alta Loma Elementary School, located near 87th and Olive avenues, after administrators were alerted of a possible weapon.

Police say several charges will be submitted against the student, including carrying a weapon on school grounds and a minor carrying a firearm.
