Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Against Light in Phoenix Intersection

Woman struck by vehicle at 91st Avenue and Thomas Road early Thursday morning

PHOENIX — A woman in her 40s died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a Phoenix intersection against the light on Thursday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at the west side of 91st Avenue and Thomas Road, where the victim attempted to cross without the right of way, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene around 6:30 a.m. and found the woman, who was pronounced dead on-site by Phoenix Fire Department medical personnel.

The driver of the vehicle involved was evaluated and sustained non-serious injuries. Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
