Over 80,000 Arizona Voters Added Since Primary

Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan announced Friday that the official voter registration numbers for Arizona are in and there are 3,716,161 voters in the state eligible to cast ballots in the Nov. 6 midterm election.

The number is an increase of 83,824 since the August primary election.

“Interest in this year’s midterm elections is extremely high and that has translated into a large increase in Arizonans registering to vote,” Reagan said in a press release.

The amount of registered Republicans saw an increase of 24,307, while there was an even larger increase of 40,165 among Democrats.

The results from the updated voter count mean the GOP’s advantage has been cut from 152,715 voters to 136,587 voters.

35 percent of the state’s registered voters are Republican (1,288,332), while Democrats make up 31 percent (1,151,745).

The remaining 33 percent (1,238,038) are registered without a party preference, while 31,5595 are Libertarians and 6,462 are members of the Green party.

“Now we will continue to encourage people to return their early ballots or locate their polling location as soon as they can,” Reagan said.

Arizona early voting began on Oct. 10. Phoenix-area voters can cast their ballots early at one of Maricopa County’s voting centers, in addition to the mall-in ballot alternative.
