Yavapai County Sheriff officers are investigating a tragic death after one person was found dead fully engulfed in a car fire on Stoneman Lake Road near Sedona.

Deputies were responded to calls on Sunday night around 5:45 p.m. that a vehicle located approximately a quarter mile from Interstate 17 was on fire.

When Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene, they waited for the fire department to put out the flames and that is when they discovered a body in the driver’s seat.

Deputies have not released information on the person’s identity, cause of death, or cause of the fire. This remains an active investigation.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has no leads at this time.
