North Rim of Grand Canyon Set to Open May 15 for 2025 Season

Lodge, trail rides, and full visitor services to resume for the summer season

GRAND CANYON, AZ — The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is set to officially open for the 2025 season on May 15, according to the National Park Service.

Along with access to the North Rim, the Grand Canyon Lodge will reopen that day, as well as Grand Canyon Trail Rides. The lodge dining room will offer daily breakfast and lunch, with dinner available by reservation only.

Additional services including grocery, retail, food and beverage, showers, laundry, and fuel will also resume operations on May 15. The gas station on the North Rim will be open to visitors.

The Grand Canyon Conservancy bookstore and the Backcountry Information Center will both begin daily operations at 8 a.m., with park rangers available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for trip planning and information.

Visitors can also expect daily ranger programs throughout the season, with information available at the Roaring Springs Overlook kiosk.

Most seasonal services will run through October 15. However, the Bright Angel Point Trail will be closed for the entirety of the 2025 season due to ongoing construction.

For those planning overnight stays, campsite fees are increasing for the first time in 20 years. Standard campsite rates will rise from $18 to $30 per night, while group sites will cost $55 per night.

Reservations for the Grand Canyon Lodge can be made through Aramark Destinations at 877-386-4383 or online at the Grand Canyon North Rim website. Trail ride bookings can be made by calling 435-679-8665 or visiting the Grand Canyon Trail Rides website.

The North Rim is expected to remain open for day-use visitors through November 30, weather permitting. After the seasonal closure of State Route 67, the North Rim will only be accessible by non-motorized travel.
