New Pizza Concept Will Soon Blast into Competitive Phoenix Market

The Phoenix pizza scene may already be crowded, but a new Neapolitan-style pizza restaurant, Blast & Brew, will offer a new spin for pizza lovers. Customers will not only be able to fully customize their pizza, but will also be able to serve themselves craft beers from over 40 craft brew taps.

The beer wall is expected to be Blast & Brews biggest draw, but the pizza at Blast & Brew will be what keeps customers returning. Hand-stretched and fresh-made dough that is “blasted” and seared in an oven at 825 degrees for about three minutes will provide a great crust that is topped in pizza assembly line with additional items like specialty crafted sandwiches, fresh salads, and a lot of tasty appetizers to choose from.

Blast & Brew will certainly have some competitive advantages with their customized and self-serve beer wall concepts, and one of the current local pizza establishments that they will be competing against is Fired Pie, a franchise model in the Valley.

Co-owners, Fred Morgan and Doug Doyle left Oregano’s Pizza and founded Fired Pie in 2013. “All 18 of our stores are company owned,” Morgan said. “Everyone else was doing the franchise model. What we knew from California Pizza Kitchen and other concepts is that they can struggle from having the franchise model. We really wanted to build a brand and uphold the standards and service. We wanted to have higher standards than the other players in the market.”

Mike Reynolds, from the chief development office of Blast & Brew’s parent company, Milano Restaurants International, says the the customer customized brew and pizza are just 2 of Blast & Brew’s unique and distinctive features. Customers at Blast & Brew will also be able to customize what they want to watch on the big TV screens or on the radio from a touch screen monitor.

Blast & Brew currently has eight stores that are completely owned by the company and five additional franchise restaurants. Plans to build the first Phoenix franchise are expected to begin in Glendale and Chandler with up to 15 additional franchise locations over the next five years.
