New Memory Center Coming to Tucson

Banner Alzheimer’s Institute is set to begin constructing a new, multidisciplinary memory and research center in Tucson.

The facility will be built in partnership with the University of Arizona clinicians and researchers. It will offer services for affected patients and families, conduct treatment and prevention studies, and expand the University of Arizona’s research portfolio when studying these conditions.  The facility will be 10,000-square-foot, and it will be located at the corner of North Hacienda Road and East River Road in Tucson.

“We are excited to work so closely with our University of Arizona colleagues in providing the kind of memory care that all affected patients and families deserve, and to advance the fight to against Alzheimer’s disease in Tucson and Southern Arizona,” said Eric M. Reiman, MD, the executive director and research CEO of Banner Alzheimer’s Institute.

“Banner Alzheimer’s Institute brings a unique model of clinical care, family support and research to our community. The development of this model of care associated with groundbreaking research will be a unique asset in Southern Arizona,” said David M. Labiner, MD. He is a University of Arizona’s Department of Neurology professor and department chair.

The facility will open Spring 2020, and it will be named the Toole Family Memory Center. The outpatient services include: evaluation, diagnosis and medical management of cognitive and non-cognitive behavior problems; clinical trials, a family and community services program, and various community education programs.
