More Than 750 Affordable Homes Planned for Phoenix Suburbs

Dominium launches family-focused housing projects in Surprise, Buckeye, and Casa Grande.

A major affordable housing developer is moving forward with plans to bring hundreds of new rental homes to fast-growing communities on the edges of metro Phoenix.

Dominium, one of the nation’s largest providers of affordable housing, announced three projects that together will add more than 750 new units across Surprise, Buckeye, and Casa Grande. The developments — Allasso Ranch, Sidney Village, and Townhomes on Earley — will feature duplex-style townhomes with three- and four-bedroom floor plans, a rarity in affordable housing construction that is often geared toward smaller households.

Families earning up to 60% of the area’s median income will be eligible to apply. Developers say the projects are designed with larger families in mind, offering community amenities such as swimming pools, playgrounds, fitness centers, and clubhouses.

The new projects come as demand for affordable housing in Arizona continues to outpace supply. Rising rents and population growth have left many families struggling to find stable housing options, particularly in suburban communities where new jobs and development are concentrated.

Dominium officials said construction will begin later this year, with completion expected in phases. Once finished, the projects will provide long-term affordable rental opportunities for working families who have been priced out of much of the Valley’s housing market.
