Minor Kills Man and Child in Wrong-Way Crash in Tempe

The Tempe Police Department say that two people, including a 2-year-old girl, are dead after a wrong-way crash late Monday night.

According to Tempe Police, the accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday near Price Road and Southern Avenue.

The wrong-way driver, a teenager, reported to police he believed he was going in the right direction prior to the crash. Reportedly, there were four people inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. An unrestrained 2-year-old girl who was pronounced dead at the scene. The child’s mother was sitting in the backseat. She suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition. A man riding in the front passenger seat was also killed.


Police report that the juvenile driver is in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck by the wrong-way driver, identified as an adult female, has serious injuries.

Impairment of the minor driver is believed to be a factor in the crash.
