Michael Phelps will headline WM Phoenix Open tee-off luncheon

The Waste Management Phoenix Open tee-off luncheon will have U.S. Olympic swim team great Michael Phelps as a featured guest this year.  The annual event will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, AZ.

Tournament chairman Andy Markham is excited about having Phelps as a featured speaker at the tee-off luncheon.  Phelps will be discussing his Olympic career, future plans since retiring from the U.S.A swim team, and his recent love of the game of golf.  Markham says, “This is one of our signature events for the Waste Management Phoenix Open and a chance to talk about all the things we have in store for 2017.”  He says it is an added bonus to be able to hear the stories from one of the greatest Olympians ever.

Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all-time.  He received 28 medals during his career in the Olympics, 23 of which were gold medals.  He also added another six medals to his collection when he swam in the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro – five more gold medals and one silver medal.

The 2017 Waste Management Phoenix Open, also referred to as “The Greatest Show on Grass,” is presented by the AK-Chin Indian Community, and will take place at TPC Scottsdale January 30 – February 5, 2017.  This is the best-attended golf tournament in the world and is noted for being the most unique stop on the PGA Tour.  Three attendance records were broken at last year’s tournament.  This year’s tournament is the 82nd year for this event.

Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased on the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce website for $150 each or $1, 500 for a table of 10.
