PHOENIX — A 27-year-old Mexican national was arrested last week and charged with possession of child pornography after U.S. border agents allegedly discovered disturbing images on his cell phone while he was attempting to enter the country.
Alan Xavier Cabrera was stopped at the San Luis port of entry in Arizona on April 25, 2025, while trying to enter the U.S. on a B1/B2 travel visa, according to a criminal complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
Agents reportedly grew suspicious of Cabrera’s behavior and conducted a search of his phone. Investigators say they found multiple images and videos of what appeared to be minors — some under the age of 10 — engaged in sexual acts with adult men. Officials referred to the materials as Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Cabrera was taken into custody and charged by federal complaint. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and potentially a lifetime of supervised release.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office emphasized that the charges are allegations and Cabrera is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Homeland Security Investigations is leading the investigation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Phoenix is handling the prosecution.
