Mesa Woman Arrested for Attempting to Sell Drugs to Teen Recently Discharged from Rehab

Police say 39-year-old worked at juvenile rehab facility and tried to exchange Adderall for fentanyl and OxyContin

PHOENIX — A 39-year-old Mesa woman has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies after police say she attempted to sell drugs to a 17-year-old boy who had just completed treatment at a juvenile rehabilitation facility where she worked.

According to the Mesa Police Department, Ashley Lutton is facing eight felony charges, including drug sales to minors, dangerous drug sales, and child abuse.

How the case unfolded

Police say the teen’s mother contacted officers on Friday, August 22, around 5:30 p.m. after discovering text messages between Lutton and her son. In those exchanges, Lutton allegedly offered to sell the boy Adderall, arranged a meeting location, and asked that he provide her with fentanyl and OxyContin in return.

Investigators say Lutton later went to the teen’s home but left after being confronted.

Evidence gathered

As part of the investigation, officers reviewed surveillance footage showing Lutton at the teen’s residence, identified her vehicle, and confirmed her address. A search warrant was later executed on her car and apartment, where police say they found drugs packaged for sale as well as firearms.

Lutton was arrested on Sunday, August 24, and is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.
