PHOENIX — A 16-year-old boy is dead and an adult man injured following a shooting Wednesday night at a Mesa apartment complex, police said.
Mesa police responded to the complex near Val Vista Drive and Hampton Avenue around 10 p.m. and found 16-year-old Azriel Lloyd and an unidentified adult male with gunshot wounds.
Both were transported to a hospital, where Lloyd died from his injuries. The man is expected to survive.
Investigators say Lloyd was hosting a party at the apartment and that he and the injured man were planning to rob someone.
Authorities have interviewed multiple individuals in connection with the incident. A vehicle linked to a potential suspect was located near Litchfield Park, but no arrests have been made.
The investigation remains active.
