Mesa police have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of breaking into a family’s apartment and stabbing a mother and her two teenage daughters in the early morning hours Wednesday.
Lowell Tucker Dorn was taken into custody and booked on multiple felony charges, including three counts of attempted murder, the Mesa Police Department announced Thursday.
The attack occurred around 4:30 a.m. near Dobson and Broadway roads. Investigators say Dorn entered the family’s apartment while they slept and began stabbing a 16-year-old girl. She managed to escape to a nearby friend’s house, where she called police.
Police say Dorn then turned on the girl’s mother and 18-year-old sister before fleeing the scene. All three victims were taken to a hospital with stab wounds and are expected to recover.
Mesa detectives worked with the Tempe Police Department to identify Dorn as the suspect after receiving several calls about him following the stabbing.
Authorities have not disclosed additional details about a possible motive or the connection between Dorn and the victims.
The investigation remains active.
