Mesa Man Sentenced to Nearly a Decade in Prison for Armed Robbery at Circle K

Cameron Davis, 34, threatened a convenience store worker with a knife during a robbery and was later caught after bragging about the crime, authorities said.

A Mesa man who robbed a Circle K and threatened an employee with a knife earlier this year has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Officials said 34-year-old Cameron Davis pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery for the incident, which took place in April.

The robbery unfolded when a store clerk working alone confronted Davis after he went behind the counter and began taking packs of cigarettes. Davis allegedly threatened to stab the employee if he didn’t move and then ordered him to stand in a corner while he continued stealing merchandise. The suspect fled the store on a bicycle.

Days later, investigators learned that Davis had been bragging about the robbery, revealing his first name in the process. Combined with surveillance footage, that information led police to identify and arrest him in June. When apprehended, Davis was carrying a folding knife, a green bandana matching the one seen in the store’s security video, and another knife in his backpack.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell praised the sentence, saying, “No one should have to face threats of violence while trying to earn a living. Our office remains committed to standing with victims and ensuring that those who choose violence face serious consequences.”

Davis’ case is one of several recent prosecutions highlighting the county’s continued focus on holding repeat violent offenders accountable.
