PHOENIX — Mayo Clinic is making a historic $1.9 billion investment in Arizona to expand its Phoenix facility by nearly 60%, adding state-of-the-art technology and new medical infrastructure to enhance patient care.
Major Expansion Details
The expansion will increase the campus size by 1.2 million square feet, featuring:
- A new procedural building
- A five-floor expansion of the Mayo Clinic Specialty Building
- 11 new operating rooms
- Two additional patient units with 48 new hospital beds
Additionally, the investment will fund innovative medical technology to support future treatments.
Improving Patient Experience
The expansion includes a two-story indoor promenade wrapping around the front of the campus to help patients and visitors navigate between buildings.
Mayo Clinic is also introducing “care neighborhoods,” grouping complementary clinical services together to improve patient experience and streamline treatment.

Timeline for Completion
The design process is already underway, and the expansion is expected to be completed by 2031.
