Massage Therapist Sentenced to 5 Years for Sexual Abuse in Maricopa County

Raul Ochoa Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Clients at Queen Creek and Gilbert Day Spas, Leaving Victims with Lasting Trauma

PHOENIX, AZ — Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that Raul Ochoa, a former massage therapist, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing multiple women during sessions at day spas in Queen Creek and Gilbert.

Between May 2022 and February 2023, Ochoa assaulted several women while providing massages, inappropriately touching clients who had trusted him with their care. Victims reported lasting emotional and psychological effects, including nightmares and ongoing distress, as a result of the abuse.

Charges and Sentence

Ochoa pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • One count of Attempt to Commit Sexual Assault, a Class Three Felony.
  • Two counts of Sexual Abuse, a Class Five Felony.
  • One count of Assault with Sexual Motivation, a Class Three Misdemeanor.

He was sentenced to five years in prison for his crimes.

“This defendant took advantage of these women who had placed their trust in him,” said Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. “This case highlights the bravery of the survivors who came forward to ensure that justice was served, and that this perpetrator could no longer harm others.”

The sentence underscores the importance of holding individuals accountable for abuse, particularly in settings where clients expect safety and professionalism. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office commended the survivors for their courage in bringing Ochoa to justice.
