Maricopa Sheriff’s Office Receives $53,000 Grant For Overtime and Aggressive Driving Detection

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has received a grant for overtime and equipment for an aggressive driving detection program.

The $53,803 grant was awarded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

In addition to overtime to conduct selective traffic enforcement, the grant will be used to purchase state-of-the-art speed detection equipment for GOHS’ Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.

MCSO will purchase EAGLE 3 Directional RADAR speed detection devices with the grant.

The devices offer front and rear scanning modes with fast processing for a wide targeting range and improved target acquisition.

They also have Wireless Speed Sensing, which improves performance in bad weather.

MCSO will use the devices in marked and unmarked patrol vehicles to help conduct traffic enforcement.

Deputies will educate drivers who are pulled over of the dangers of reckless and aggressive driving.
