PHOENIX — Detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Animal Crimes Unit have rescued 12 dogs from a property in Tonopah, following reports of animal neglect.
According to MCSO, investigators executed a search warrant at the property and discovered the dogs living in dangerous and unhealthy conditions. Authorities said the animals were underweight and without proper access to food, water, or veterinary care.
One of the dogs was found with a severe untreated injury, which officials said caused ongoing suffering.
Conditions at the property
Detectives described the property as hazardous and unfit for habitation, noting the presence of large amounts of debris, unsafe structures, and no access to running water or electricity.
All 12 dogs were removed from the site and are now receiving care.
The case remains under investigation, and officials have not released additional details about potential charges.
