PHOENIX, AZ — The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is launching the “Honoring on Patrol” Project, a heartfelt and ongoing tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting our community and country. This initiative will prominently feature vinyl banners on the back windows of marked MCSO patrol vehicles, each adorned with the names and details of fallen heroes, ensuring their memory is honored every day of the year.
The project pays homage not only to MCSO employees who made the ultimate sacrifice but also to Arizona-based U.S. Veterans who were killed in action. This strengthens the connection between the MCSO, our military service members, and the local community. Each banner includes the image of the United States Flag, the honored individual’s name, the date of their End of Watch, and the MCSO Star or the Branch of Service they were affiliated with. Within the MCSO, 27 employees, including 21 deputies and 6 detention officers, are honored for their service and sacrifice.
“We believe the Honoring on Patrol initiative will have a lasting impact by continually remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our country and our community,” said Sheriff Russ Skinner. “It also serves to remind the surviving family members and co-workers of these fallen heroes that, no matter how much time has passed, they will always be part of the MCSO family. We are proud to serve in their legacy.”
This meaningful tribute is made possible through the generosity of a member of the Memorial Fund Advisory Council and Screen Supply Central, who have helped the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office immortalize the legacy of our fallen heroes.
