Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Detention Officer Arrested on Child Molestation Charges

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that an MCSO detention officer has been arrested and charged with child molestation.

Chad Swiman was taken into custody Monday and was placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. He faces three counts of molestation of a child and three counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Both are felony charges.

Swiman is accused by an adult son of a family friend of having molested him during childhood. The abuse is said to have occurred from 2009 to 2013.

“I cannot express enough how disturbing this is for me and our entire organization,” Sheriff Paul Penzone said in a statement released Tuesday.

“Every one of us at MCSO is bound with responsibility to protect and serve our community, especially those who are most vulnerable. This is another example that we will not overlook any misconduct regardless of the time frame of the occurrence,” he said.

No other information is available at this time.
