A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office detention officer has been arrested in Buckeye on multiple felony charges related to alleged child sex crimes, according to local authorities.
Police said they began investigating after receiving a report on January 15 that Isidro Caro, 36, a Buckeye resident and detention officer with MCSO, had been sexually abusing an 11-year-old child.
With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, Buckeye police arrested Caro the following day, on January 16. He was booked into jail and faces several serious charges, including child molestation, sexual abuse, and sexual conduct with a minor, officials said.
Law enforcement agencies have not released additional details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has not yet issued a public statement regarding Caro’s employment status or whether he has been placed on administrative leave.
