PHOENIX – Authorities are intensifying their search for Brandon Sanchez, the last remaining inmate on the run after six detainees escaped from the White Mountain Apache Tribe jail in Whiteriver, Arizona, over the weekend.
The escape occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday, and by Sunday morning, Sanchez was the only escapee still at large.
Residents with any information about Sanchez’s whereabouts are urged to contact the White Mountain Apache Police Department at 928-338-4942.
Details of the Escape and Recaptures
Authorities have not yet disclosed how the men managed to break out or whether the escape was coordinated.
The other five inmates were swiftly recaptured:
- Shaquille Ivins, Isaiah Kindelay, and Tyrien Thompson were apprehended within 2½ hours of their escape.
- Julian Thomas was captured by midnight.
- Rio Joplin was back in custody by 8 a.m. Sunday.
Details about the offenses for which the inmates were being held or how long they had been in jail have not been released.

The White Mountain Apache Tribe jail is located in Whiteriver, a small town approximately 180 miles northeast of Phoenix and 70 miles west of the Arizona-New Mexico border.
Authorities continue to pursue leads and are urging the public to remain vigilant while the search for Sanchez intensifies.
