A late-night shooting in central Phoenix left one man dead and detectives searching for answers.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were already in the vicinity of Buckeye Road, just east of 19th Avenue, on Saturday night when the sound of multiple gunshots broke the quiet. Police quickly began canvassing the surrounding area to determine the source of the gunfire.
During their search, officers located a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite their response, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Sunday, authorities identified the man as 40-year-old Anthony Vaughn. Investigators have not yet disclosed what may have led to the shooting, and no information about a potential suspect has been released.
