A 33-year-old man died early Saturday after being struck by a train in downtown Phoenix, authorities said.
Police identified the victim as Dominique Mayes, who was found with fatal injuries around 2 a.m. near the intersection of 11th Avenue and Buchanan Street. Responding officers said his wounds were consistent with being hit by a BNSF train that was being moved a short distance at the time.
Mayes was pronounced dead at the scene.
No details have been released about what led up to the collision, and investigators are continuing to review the circumstances.
