A man was fatally shot early Saturday after he allegedly forced his way into a home in Phoenix, according to local authorities.
Officers with the Phoenix Police Department responded to reports of a shooting around 3:18 a.m. near 75th Avenue and Broadway Road. Upon arrival, they found 25-year-old Isaac Nathaniel Cordova-Fregoso suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Despite attempts by officers to provide lifesaving aid, Cordova-Fregoso was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate the man had broken into the residence before being confronted by individuals inside the home. During that encounter, he was shot.
Police said the person who fired the gun was located and interviewed. Investigators noted that the individual’s account aligned with the evidence gathered at the scene. No immediate charges have been announced, and the person was released as the investigation continues.
Authorities have not indicated any ongoing threat to the public. The case remains under review as detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
