PHOENIX — A man died early Saturday morning after being hit by a vehicle while lying in the roadway in north Phoenix, according to police.
The fatal collision occurred shortly after midnight near 17th and Dunlap avenues. Responding officers found the man critically injured at the scene. He was transported to a hospital by Phoenix Fire personnel, where he later died from his injuries.
Initial findings from the Phoenix Police Department indicate that the man was lying down in the roadway at the time he was struck.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said there was no indication the driver was impaired.
