MESA — A man was left with life-threatening injuries following a shooting Monday in the parking lot of a Home Depot in the Mesa Riverview shopping center, according to the Mesa Police Department.
The shooting occurred near Dobson Road and Rio Salado Parkway. Police say the incident stemmed from an altercation between the victim and the suspect, which escalated into gunfire just outside the home improvement store.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene without further incident.
Mesa police emphasized that the shooting appeared to be an isolated dispute between the two individuals and does not pose an ongoing threat to the general public.
While authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine what led to the violent confrontation. Witnesses or anyone with information are encouraged to contact Mesa police as the case develops.
