Man Claims Self-Defense in Fatal Phoenix Alleyway Shooting

PHOENIX – A man was fatally shot during an altercation in a Phoenix alleyway on Tuesday evening, prompting an ongoing investigation into a self-defense claim, authorities said.

Phoenix Police responded to a shooting near 20th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 10 p.m. Officers found a man in his early 30s suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
