Man Arrested After Argument Leads to Stabbing in Glendale

Victim hospitalized with multiple stab wounds; suspect charged with aggravated assault

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A 24-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing another man during an argument that escalated into violence early Tuesday morning.

According to Glendale police, Robert Cheatham was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following the incident, which took place at an apartment complex near 6600 W. Glendale Avenue around 1 a.m.

Responding officers found a man suffering from approximately seven stab wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.

Court documents state that Cheatham and the victim were involved in a verbal argument inside a bedroom at the residence, which quickly turned physical. The two reportedly exchanged punches before Cheatham allegedly stabbed the man in the stomach and back.

The apartment’s owner confirmed the two men had been arguing shortly before the attack.

Police have not released the victim’s identity. The investigation is ongoing.
