Library Forgiving Fines For Food Donations

National Library Week is coming up soon, and the Phoenix Public Library is celebrating by partnering with local food banks for a fundraiser.

If you donate canned food items between April 6 – 20, you can do away with your library fines. Each can will remove $1, and you can donate enough canned goods to erase $75 in fines.

Food items can be dropped off at any Phoenix public library location.

The food will be donated to St. Mary’s Food Bank and Desert Mission Food Bank. The food banks are specifically requesting large containers of peanut butter — at least 12 ounces — canned chicken, canned fruit, and canned vegetable.

This isn’t the first time the library has partnered with local food banks to help those in need. Every year, the fundraiser collect of 20,000 pounds of food.
