Larry Fitzgerald Receives Impressive Ranking For Best Wide Receiver

The votes are in, the NFL players have chosen the top 100 players for 2018. And the Arizona Cardinals are right at the top, as Larry Fitzgerald was ranked the No. 5 best wide receiver. His overall rating was a very respectable 27, up from 45 in 2017.

First on the list was Tom Brady, QB for the New England Patriots. While having generated a fair amount of controversy throughout his career, he is clearly one of the greatest winning QB’s.

In the 100th ranking, we have Ha’Sean Treshon Clinton-Dix (known as “Ha Ha”), a free safety for the Green Bay Packers. And at the age of 25, will likely make his way up the rankings in the next few years.

The NFL Top 100 is an annual ranking of the best players as chosen by fellow NFL players. The NFL  organized an off-season poll where the players decide who among them deserve this honor. The voting is based upon the performance from recent seasons. You can see a video review of the players here:  NFL Top 100 Players of 2018 | NFL Network – NFL.com

The Top 100 ranking began in 2011, with Tom Brady receiving top honors. Each year since 2011 the NFL has returned with the Top 100 list. While there is controversy as to how the voting process is carried out, some calling it a “popularity contest,” there is no doubt as to why Fitzgerald has made the top 5.

Larry Fitzgerald, at the age of 34, has been recognized as one of the top wide receivers for most of his career. Selected for the Pro Bowl 11 times, third in all-time receptions, third in receiving yards, and eighth in receiving touchdowns. More Fitzgerald stats here. But for Cardinal fans, this is old news. Fitzgerald has been thrilling football fans since 2004, with his running, blocking, and receiving. As he puts it, “When success finds you, it’s because you were looking for it.” That sums it up nicely.
