This new Broadway musical will have you moonwalking in a flash.
This Tuesday, Columbia Live and The Michael Jackson Estate announced that a new musical inspired by the life and music of pop sensation Michael Jackson will be hitting the stage by 2020.
During his career, Michael Jackson won 13 Grammy awards for his musical talent and sold millions of records. He is best known for his track “Thriller” which was released in 1983 and was an instant hit. His styled skill in song and dance made him a pop icon internationally for decades.
Although casting for the show is still unknown, the star-studded team features Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon, meaning the show is sure to be a hit.
Playwright Nottage is the critically-acclaimed writer of works such as Ruined, Sweat, and Intimate Apparel. Choreographer Wheeldon is best known for his work in An American in Paris and is widely known for his choreographic residency at the New York City Ballet and the Royal Opera House.
The play, although still untitled, will feature Jackson’s iconic compilation of music and his unique sense of style.
