Juvenile Arrested for Intentionally Setting House Fire in Surprise, Police Say

No injuries reported after late-night blaze; officials confirm fire was deliberately started

SURPRISE, Ariz. — A young suspect was taken into custody Saturday night after allegedly setting fire to their own home, according to authorities in Surprise.

Emergency crews from Surprise Police and Surprise Fire-Medical Department responded around 11 p.m. to reports of a house fire near Cotton and Paradise Lanes.

All occupants were able to safely evacuate, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Firefighters successfully contained the blaze before it could spread, and no neighboring homes were damaged, officials said.

Juvenile Suspect Facing Arson Charges

According to police, the fire was intentionally set, and a juvenile has been arrested in connection with the incident. Due to the suspect’s age, few additional details have been released.

Authorities confirmed that the minor is facing charges of arson and endangerment.
