June 11-14 – ADOT’s Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory

Improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions along several Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (June 11-14), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following weekend freeway restrictions are in place:

Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Seventh Street and State Route 51(Piestewa Freeway) in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 14) for widening project. Both I-17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 also closed. Eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 27th, 19th and Seventh avenues closed. Allow extra travel time and expect heavy traffic. DETOUR: Alternate routes include eastbound Union Hills Drive or Deer Valley Drive/Road to Tatum Boulevard to reach Loop 101 beyond closure.

Eastbound Interstate 10 closed between the I-17 “Stack” interchange and Seventh Street north of downtown Phoenix from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (June 12) for tunnel lighting project. Both I-17 ramps to eastbound I-10 at the Stack closed. Eastbound I-10 HOV lane on-ramp at Third Street closed. DETOUR: Traffic can detour on southbound I-17 starting at the Stack and reconnect with I-10 near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.


Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane (HOV lane open) between Chaparral and Thomas roads in the Scottsdale area from 11 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday (June 12) for resurfacing. Southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Indian School Road closed. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time, expect heavy traffic and consider alternate routes including southbound Pima or Hayden roads.

Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) HOV lane ramp to westbound I-10 in Tempe closed from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (June 12) for pre-construction survey work. The primary westbound US 60 ramp to westbound I-10 will remain open. Westbound I-10 left lane closed between US 60 and State Route 143. DETOUR: Please be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.

Westbound Interstate 10 off-ramp at 24th Street (near Sky Harbor Airport) closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (June 12) for pavement repair. DETOUR: Consider exiting westbound I-10 at Buckeye Road to reach the airport. Westbound I-10 drivers who want to reach southbound 24th Street can exit to southbound 32nd Street and use westbound Broadway Road to 24th Street.
