JD Vance to Return to Phoenix as Featured Speaker at AmericaFest 2025

Vice president’s visit comes months after delivering eulogy for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk

Vice President JD Vance is set to return to Phoenix later this month, marking his second visit to the Valley since the death of his longtime friend, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The conservative youth organization announced Wednesday that Vance will headline its annual AmericaFest conference, scheduled for Dec. 18–21 at the Phoenix Convention Center.

The appearance adds a new chapter to Vance’s close relationship with Kirk and the group Kirk built. Vance last traveled to Phoenix in September, accompanying Kirk’s casket aboard Air Force Two and delivering a memorial address alongside former President Donald Trump. Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while speaking to students at Utah Valley University, a killing that rattled national politics and prompted tributes from Republican leaders and Arizona officials alike. Gov. Katie Hobbs ordered flags lowered statewide in the days following the shooting.

Since Kirk’s death, his widow, Erika, has stepped into his role as CEO and publicly praised Vance and his wife, Usha, for their support in the aftermath. She has also signaled that the organization will back Vance should he pursue the presidency in 2028 — a stance that has drawn significant attention in conservative circles.

Turning Point USA has not yet announced Vance’s speaking slot for AmericaFest, which typically draws thousands of young conservatives, media personalities, and political figures. Though this year’s event is already sold out, the organization is maintaining a waitlist for those hoping to attend. More details are available on Turning Point USA’s website, which continues to update its lineup as the conference approaches.
