MESA, AZ – A routine trip to a Bashas’ grocery store in Mesa turned into a life-changing moment for one lucky lottery player, who is now $7.8 million richer after winning Arizona’s The Pick game. The winning ticket, purchased at the Bashas’ location near Brown and Ellsworth roads, matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s drawing: 4, 8, 15, 17, 31, and 41.
The Pick, Arizona’s beloved state lottery game, draws numbers every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Each ticket costs just $1, and while the odds of hitting the jackpot are slim—1 in 7,059,052—this fortunate player defied the odds to claim the massive prize. After the win, The Pick’s jackpot will reset to $1 million, and the next drawing is already generating excitement.
“This is a thrilling moment for Arizona Lottery players,” said a spokesperson from the Arizona Lottery. “Winning the jackpot is a dream come true, and we’re excited to see one of our players in Mesa achieve this incredible milestone.”
But the Mesa jackpot winner wasn’t the only Arizonan to strike it big this weekend. A Powerball ticket sold at a Safeway in Tucson on Ironwood Hill Drive and Grant Road netted another lucky player $50,000. That ticket matched the numbers 14, 34, 37, 55, and 63, with a red Powerball of 20.
Powerball, a nationwide lottery, offers even larger jackpots, with entries costing $2 each. Tickets can be purchased at over 3,000 Arizona Lottery retail locations. Drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and the game is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In addition to the $7.8 million winner and the Powerball prize, Arizona also celebrated a $243,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot winner, with the winning ticket sold at a Mesa gas station.
