Iowa Man Sentenced to Prison for Threatening Arizona Detective

21-year-old receives two years behind bars after threatening Gila River investigators during missing juvenile case

PHOENIX — A 21-year-old Iowa man was sentenced to two years in federal prison after threatening to kill a Gila River detective and others involved in a missing juvenile investigation.

The incident began in August 2024, when a juvenile from the Gila River Indian Community was reported missing. Investigators discovered the juvenile had flown to Des Moines, Iowa, to meet the man.

When contacted by a detective seeking the safe return of the minor, the man instead issued violent threats against the detective and his family. Despite the threats, the juvenile was found with the suspect 10 days later.

In addition to the 24-month prison term, the man will serve three years of supervised release.
