PHOENIX — Keith James Taylor, 26, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison followed by five years of intensive probation for causing a fatal DUI crash and fleeing the scene. The sentencing was announced by Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell after Taylor pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter (Dangerous) and one count of Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident, both Class Two Felonies.
Incident Details
The fatal crash occurred on November 27, 2023, when Taylor, driving eastbound on Ocotillo Road, struck a pedestrian crossing in a marked crosswalk near McQueen Road. The victim died from her injuries.
Taylor fled the scene and subsequently crashed into another vehicle at a nearby intersection before abandoning his car.
Chandler police located Taylor shortly afterward and noted clear signs of intoxication. A test revealed his blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.
