Hurricane Harbor Expansion Opening Today

An expansion at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Phoenix is set to open Wednesday, adding a variety of amenities to the state’s largest waterpark.

Paradise Island is a 42,000-square-foot expansion for the park located off Interstate 17 on Pinnacle Peak Road in Glendale, according to a press release.

It features a 257,000-gallon activity pool with multiple interactive elements and areas, a volleyball pool, dueling basketball hoops and a beach-style zero-depth entry area.

“Paradise Island will quickly become a family favorite because of the wide variety of activities and hours of entertainment it provides,” General Manager Donald Spiller said in the release.

“We’re thrilled to provide guests an entirely new offering this summer with plenty of room to spread out, sit in the shade and celebrate summer with friends and family.”

The expansion also has extensive lounge seating and shade, a new food location and new restrooms.

Paradise Island is close to the Coconut Bay children’s area and Adventure River, according to the release.

Hurricane Harbor Phoenix was previously known as Wet N’ Wild until Six Flags purchased rights to the park and rebranded it in 2019.

The waterpark also features more than 30 slides, rides and attractions.
