How Presidents’ Day Will Affect City of Phoenix Services on February 16

Trash collection, libraries, transit, and airport operations will see adjusted hours or closures during the federal holiday.

The City of Phoenix will observe the Presidents’ Day holiday on Monday, February 16, 2026, with several city departments and facilities adjusting their schedules. While some essential services will continue without interruption, residents should plan ahead for closures and limited operations.

Trash and Recycling:
Residential solid waste and recycling pickup will run as usual. Monday customers should set out bins on their regular collection day.

Transfer Stations and Public Works:
The city’s 27th Avenue and North Gateway Transfer Stations will both be closed. The Public Works Customer Contact Center will also close for the day but will reopen Tuesday, February 17, at 7 a.m. Service requests can still be submitted online through the myPHX311 portal.

Libraries:
All Phoenix Public Library branches will close Monday, though book drops and digital materials remain available around the clock via phoenixpubliclibrary.org.

Parking and Parks:
Parking meters will remain enforced from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., even on the holiday. Parks and trails will stay open normal hours, though all community and recreation centers will be closed. Officials encourage hikers to follow the city’s “Take a Hike. Do it Right.” safety guidelines before hitting the trails.

Museums and Transit:
The S’edav Va’aki Museum will close Monday and reopen Tuesday. Bus and light rail service will run on regular schedules, but Express and RAPID routes will not operate. Customer service for transit will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Ed Pastor, Sunnyslope, and Central transit centers will be closed. Details are available at ValleyMetro.org.

Airport Operations:
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will remain fully operational. Travelers are urged to reserve parking in advance at skyharbor.com/parkphx and to arrive early—two hours for domestic and three hours for international flights. Sky Harbor’s PHX Reserve program lets passengers book a TSA screening time to speed up security lines.
