HonorHealth Expands Valley Footprint with Acquisition of 11 Evernorth Clinics

As part of a major regional healthcare shift, 11 Evernorth Care Group clinics will reopen under the HonorHealth banner while seven others close permanently.

HonorHealth has officially completed the acquisition of 11 primary care clinics previously operated by Evernorth Care Group, marking a significant expansion of its network across metro Phoenix. The announcement, made Friday, finalizes a deal first revealed in September and positions HonorHealth to serve even more Valley residents through its growing system of hospitals and outpatient facilities.

Evernorth Care Group—formerly part of Cigna HealthCare of Arizona—had managed 18 clinics that collectively provided care to nearly 80,000 patients. Under the new arrangement, 11 of those locations will reopen this month as HonorHealth clinics, while the remaining seven have been permanently closed.

“This transition reinforces our commitment to improving health and vitality and maintaining and creating access points for patients to receive the care they need, when and where they need it,” said Todd LaPorte, CEO of HonorHealth, in a company statement.

The newly acquired sites are undergoing a short transition period and are scheduled to reopen in mid- to late January. Facilities in Apache Junction, Queen Creek, and several Mesa neighborhoods will begin seeing patients again on Jan. 13, followed by others in Gilbert, Tempe, Goodyear, Surprise, and Scottsdale reopening on Jan. 20.

With this move, HonorHealth’s footprint now includes more than 200 primary, specialty, and urgent care locations, along with nine acute care hospitals throughout the Valley.

However, not all former Evernorth patients will find their usual clinics reopening. Centers in Peoria, Chandler, Glendale, Phoenix, and north Scottsdale are among the seven that have been closed permanently following the acquisition.

Patients seeking to transfer their care or schedule visits at the new HonorHealth facilities can call 623-580-5800, while those needing access to past medical records from Evernorth may contact 800-233-3264 for assistance.
