Hawaiian Airlines is set to resume nonstop flights between Phoenix Sky Harbor and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport starting Nov. 1.

The carrier temporarily suspended flights at most mainland airports, including Phoenix, in March due to travel advisories and restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

By Nov. 18, the airline will resume service in 10 West Coast cities.

Visitors can bypass the mandatory quarantine by providing proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure beginning Oct. 15.

Visitors to the state of Hawaii are currently required to quarantine for 14 days, or the duration of their stay, upon arrival.

Passengers flying out of Los Angeles and San Francisco will have access to a preflight drive-thru COVID test through a partnership with Worksite Labs.

Hawaiian Airlines hopes to expand the program at other U.S. airports, but there are no announcements to do so yet at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

“We’re encouraged by the positive response to the state’s decision to welcome travelers back to Hawaii, and we are resuming service to key markets to give our guests more options to visit our islands,” senior vice president Brent Overbeek said in a press release.

The airline says at check-in guests will be required to complete a health acknowledgment form indicating they are free of COVID-19 symptoms. Masks will be required on board for the duration of the flight and capacity will be capped at 70% to allow for social distancing through Dec. 15.
