Grand Canyon National Park Seeks Public Input on Proposed Camping Fee Increase

Fee adjustments aim to enhance visitor experience, services, and safety starting April 2025

Grand Canyon, AZ – Grand Canyon National Park is inviting public feedback on a proposed increase to frontcountry camping fees, slated to take effect on April 1, 2025. The proposal includes adjustments for standard tent and RV sites at Mather, Desert View, and North Rim campgrounds, marking the first fee change in 20 years.

Currently, campers pay $18 per night for these sites, with a 50% discount for Senior and Access pass holders. Under the proposal, nightly rates for standard tent and RV sites would rise to $30, or $15 with discounts. Rates for equestrian, group, and walk-up sites will remain unchanged for the 2025 season.

Supporting Visitor Services and Local Communities

Grand Canyon National Park retains 80% of the recreation fees collected under the Federal Lands and Recreation Enhancement Act. These funds support projects to improve visitor services, facilities, and safety.

In 2023, the park hosted over 159,000 overnight tent stays and 84,000 RV stays. More than 4.7 million visitors contributed $768 million to local communities, supporting over 10,000 jobs and adding $1 billion to the regional economy.
