PHOENIX — Arizona is taking a major step toward lowering prescription drug costs. On Wednesday, Governor Katie Hobbs signed an Executive Order to join ArrayRx, a multi-state pharmacy discount program designed to make medications more affordable for residents.
By joining ArrayRx, Arizona aligns with five other member states—Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Ohio, and Connecticut—who participate in the public pharmacy benefit collaborative. The program allows residents to access discounted medications through the ArrayRx Discount Card, with potential savings of up to 80% on generic drugs and 18% on brand-name prescriptions.
“For too long and for too many families, rising costs, including prescription drug prices, have put the Arizona Promise out of reach. We are changing that,” Hobbs said in a statement. “I’m proud to take action to keep money in Arizonans’ pockets, create pathways to health and wellbeing, and restore the Arizona Promise for families across the state.”
Participation in ArrayRx is free for users and pharmacies, and the program offers broad coverage for FDA-approved drugs, as well as discounts on certain over-the-counter medications and supplies like diabetes test kits. More than 65,000 pharmacies across the U.S. currently accept the discount card.
In addition to transparency tools like price comparison features and privacy protections that limit data sharing, the program also aims to support Arizonans experiencing insurance gaps or needing help managing long-term prescriptions.
Arizona’s participation strengthens the state’s negotiating power and adds momentum to Hobbs’ broader push for affordable healthcare across the state.
