Governor Hobbs Launches Free Prescription Drug Discount Program for Arizonans

The new AZRx card offers savings of up to 80% on medications and is available to all Arizona residents, insured or not.

PHOENIX — Governor Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Department of Health Services have launched AZRx, a new statewide initiative that allows Arizonans to save significantly on prescription drug costs through the ArrayRx pharmacy collaborative.

The free discount card, available to all Arizona residents regardless of insurance status, provides up to 80% savings on FDA-approved medications, including mail-order and specialty drugs. Nearly 1,200 pharmacies statewide already accept the card, which can also be used at more than 64,000 locations nationwide.

“Prescription drug prices are too high, and families deserve relief,” Hobbs said in announcing the program. “AZRx gives Arizonans access to lower costs and greater security when it comes to their health.”

The state’s participation in ArrayRx — a multistate partnership that includes Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Connecticut — allows Arizona to negotiate lower drug prices collectively. The initiative is part of Hobbs’ broader push to reduce healthcare costs, following earlier actions such as erasing $429 million in medical debt for state residents.

Health leaders across Arizona praised the program as a practical step toward affordability. AARP Arizona, the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, and the Arizona Pharmacy Association all expressed support, emphasizing its potential to help patients manage chronic conditions and fill critical prescriptions.

Enrollment is free and open to all residents with a valid Arizona address. To sign up, visit azrx.az.gov, download a digital card, and present it to participating pharmacies at checkout to receive discounts.
