PHOENIX, AZ — Governor Katie Hobbs unveiled ConnectAllAZ, a groundbreaking initiative to ensure every Arizonan has access to high-speed internet. The program consolidates Arizona’s broadband expansion efforts, including the historic $993 million investment from the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program, under a unified initiative to close digital gaps across the state.
At the heart of the initiative is ConnectAllAZ.com, a hub providing resources about broadband programs, community engagement opportunities, and tools like the Arizona State Broadband Map. This interactive map identifies unserved and underserved communities and highlights internet accessibility for every address in Arizona.
Governor Hobbs Champions Universal Internet Access
“In today’s high-speed world, access to the internet is a necessity to get an education, start and grow a business, access health care, and find a job,” said Governor Hobbs. “Through ConnectAllAZ, we’re bringing affordable, reliable broadband to every community in our state, ensuring all Arizonans, no matter where they live, have the tools they need to thrive.”
Key Goals and Funding Highlights
ConnectAllAZ is Arizona’s most ambitious broadband initiative, with a goal to connect 100% of Arizona households by 2030. It includes:
- Broadband Development Grants: $100 million to expand infrastructure in unserved and underserved areas, benefiting thousands of homes and businesses.
- Middle-Mile Program: A public-private partnership enhancing connectivity between local communities and major internet hubs, with strategic infrastructure projects along I-17, I-19, and I-40.
- Digital Equity Programs: Initiatives ensuring all communities, especially rural and Tribal, have the skills and technology needed to thrive in a digital economy.
Progress in Action
This year, Governor Hobbs joined Navajo County officials to break ground on a 100-mile open-access fiber network, marking a significant step in expanding access to underserved regions.
Statewide Impact
Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, praised the initiative: “ConnectAllAZ represents an exciting milestone for Arizona, boosting economic opportunities, especially in rural and Tribal communities.”
