General Motors’ self-driving car company that recently launched in California, now has plans to expand their robotaxi service into Arizona.
Cruise, a San Francisco startup that General Motors purchased six years ago, told an audience at an investor conference on Monday, that an autonomous ride-hailing service will make its debut in Phoenix and Austin, Texas, within the next 90 days.
The expanded service to Arizona will involve Cruise’s ride-hailing service that will transport passengers in vehicles that will not have a safety driver present to take control if the robotic technology malfunctions.
Cruise will enter the Phoenix market competing with Waymo, a Google business.
