Glendale to Welcome Taylor Swift By Temporarily Renaming City in Her Honor as She Kicks Off Eras Tour

When Taylor Swift rolls into the valley for her concert tour, she will get a warm welcome in Glendale.

The city of Glendale announced this week plans to to do “something highly unusual” before Swift kicks off her The Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium.

The city will temporarily change its name to honor the popular superstar, and it will go into effect during her concert dates on March 17 and 18.

Mayor Jerry P. Weiers will read a proclamation on Monday, March 13th to announce the name of the city’s new temporary name while Grammy winner is in town performing.

The city of Glendale made the decision to do “something highly unusual” for Swift kicking off her national tour in Glendale.

“There is no need to calm down, we’re fearless and doing something highly unusual to celebrate the fact that Taylor’s concerts start right here!” read a statement from the city. “We know all too well that she’s one of the most influential artists of her generation and we are writing our own love story for her and greeting every Swiftie in style!”

The announcement will also mention traffic tips for getting around town during the massive event and places Swifties can celebrate after the show.

The Swift celebration won’t stop there. Glendale’s Westgate Entertainment District shopping complex is planning to display messages to welcome the musician, and local restaurants will offer menu items inspired by Swift.

Swift’s tour is set to play for two nights on March 17 and March 18 before heading to Las Vegas on March 24.

The musician will share the stage with opening acts Paramore, Beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, Girl in Red, Muna, Haim, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn, as each show will see some combination of two artists.
